The crankpin on my AMF Shovelhead had a .030" deep groove worn in it at 164,000 miles. I should be hearing from them any day now.

92K ? I've never gotten more 85K out of one, not feeling the love here.....

That's BS. If I were you I'd write the MoCo today and ask them to buy your bike back. You have as good a chance as the OP.
When Harley bought my bike back for what I paid for it. My service manager contacted their Harley rep. SM asked me to bring in all receipts. A week or so later was told Harley is buying bike back.
Bike was a 2008 Ultra with 48,000 miles. Was in the shop 17 times in 14 months. Problems were from wheel bearings, wiring, comp sprocket etc. Entire wiring harness was the last thing replaced. When I got home the deal was made and I was never so happy to get rid of that LEMON.

Yeah and what pisses me even more is the fact that one of the welds on the tranny plate of my 49 EL broke, pulled a stud on the bottom of the tranny and ended up cracking the bottom of the tranny case.
I'll tell you what... quality control has just gone to Hell on Harley. Nothing lasts anymore!
Crap the OP's wife bike has been in the shop twice and has been repaired under warranty both times. They should not only buy the bike back but give him a new one for free.

My original speedo (Stewart-Warner) rolled over and disintegrated the second time around at about 49,000. The needle popped off and the faceplate was vibrating around in there. It actually got me out of a +10 speeding ticket, because when the cop asked me if I knew how fast I was going, I said "I dunno", and showed him why.
It's since been replaced.
This is why you do not buy your wife a $20000 motorcycle. Buyers remorse. Not saying women can not ride but the will get a crazy hair up there *** and you end up here. My wife wanted to buy a new slim until I reminded her she can not even ride a bicycle.
that is a hell of a sweeping generalization. there are quite a few women rider's on here that would certainly take exception. and I know my wife would. after I bought my first bike in 2002, I've had to basically buy 2 of everything. 2 sportsters, 2 roadkings, 2 roadglides, thankfully only the one cvo
there are plenty of cases where a guy went out and bought the biggest, baddest, bike he could finance. rode it home and parked it and never rode it again because it scared the chit out of him.
