You bring up a good point. I've been riding the streets for 65 years and never had a crash. On top of that I'm a former MSF instructor and yet, the truth of the matter is that I was there for the taking. If he had come back across the center line after overcorrecting just a little bit sooner I simply wouldn't be here today.
No matter how much experience we have or how good we think we are there are those things that are unavoidable. Definition of an accident: unavoidable, unexpected and unintentional.
