That would really depend entirely on which side of the anorexic scale the two people in question are situated on.

You should be fine but you'll have to air up the shocks to about 40 lbs. or so. Maybe a tad more.

I agree with old enough. I lowered mine 1" on the rear, when my wife rides with me, we have never rubbed the tire, but bottomed out the shocks once or twice, under 30 lbs. in rear shocks. Combined weight close to 350lbs. You should be fine with the lower rear.

Can't you just jack the bike off the suspension, remove the shocks (or one side of them so the swingarm is free), then jack up the swingarm to a distance that represents the minimum shock length and see if everything clears?.. ie if your shocks compress to 10 inches then jack up the swingarm until the shock mounts are a little less than 10 inches apart, spin the tire around, check to make sure nothing that shouldn't touch is touching, etc..

Then if you've got enough room with the shock fully compressed you will not rub on the tire (or anything else), if you don't have enough room then you've got a problem that should be solved first.

I dunno, not familiar with this bike so maybe it's just how they are, but seems stupid to depend on shock stiffness to prevent clearance problems.
Seems like you ought to be able to bottom out the shocks without things rubbing that aren't supposed to rub.
