It's perfectly normal to ask to test ride a bike before actually making a purchase.Make sure to test ride one of the dealer's bikesfirst before signing on the dotted line.

Riding a Deluxe from the dealer will tell you a lot about the bike and your skill level...

I was in your same situation last weekend. I took the MSF course which was my first time riding.I purchased my bike from a friend at work, he lives 25 miles from me. I was nervous for the first half a block then itjust feltnatural. He offered to ride with me/ or chase vehicle in his truck, but I did it solo. I saw ride it, but only you know for yourself.

I never took a course. I bought my first bike in 2002 and rode it home about 15 miles right from the dealer. You have the rider's course under your belt so you'll be fine.

I had 100 miles to the dealer and cause I had to have a ride there I just took the truck and loaded the UC and brought it home only to find I could not get it off by myself.. Had to get a lot of help.. Darn that thing is heavy.. But I was/and am the only one that has ridden it... Except the tech that serviced it.. If you want to ride it home then take a little time to ride around the dealership to get used to it. You will do fine just take it easy and enjoy the first time on it.. Congrats...

Ride it that's why you bought it. If your scared to ride now what will change once you get it home? If you die atleast you will go doing something you enjoy. Oh, BTW wait till nobodys watching you leave, that will make it easyer, that way if you fall on your *** you wont feel "as" stupid.

I'm a former MSF instructor and think the average person taking the course could manage bringing the bike home. Go with your gut feeling after you take the course.

If you got OK roads and not too much traffic on the back roads, get a ride to the dealer and ride it home. Easier to get used to at 50 or 60 than it is at30, MPH that is, not age. Buy something shiny with your $275.

Just take your time, and ride it on home from the dealership using the back roads. I can understand your hesitancy. I went through the same scenario 25 years ago. Have fun and ride safe!
