OK.. I have a couple of half shell helmets, and I just bought a 3/4 Daytona helmet. I bought it because of the way it fits. I was wanting to keep the wind off my ears more.
Now... It's not spring and summer is coming and this helmet is warm.. So I contacted Daytona and asked them about breather holes... Supposedly their going to contact their R&D department?
But to me it's funny that their half shell helmets have vent holes!
I have a Bell 500 w/ no holes. Bought a Speed and Strength for the vent holes. The vent holes do nothing. And yes, my old halfs all have holes... hmmm.
None of my 3/4's (including 2 Daytona's) have vents, and it never bothered me. My new Simpson M30 FF only has vents on the chin / cheek area, and so far so good. I have ridden in low 90's with it, and with the face shield cracked it flows pretty good air.
You want some holes? Grab a beer or two and a drill and go to work.....this works with almost anything and serves well as a general approach to life's problems.
I wear an Arai XC. It's a three quarter helmet and it has 5 separate vents and it keeps my head perfectly cool in hot weather. Fantastic helmet and very safe with extended sides down to the jaw line.
I'm about to purchase the Shoei J-Cruise 3/4 helmet. Everything I've read about it says it's an outstanding helmet with great ventilation, little wind noise, and all around comfort.
At $500 I'm hoping it will be everything people say it is.
