Headed to Nova Scotia in a couple of weeks. We'll be using ferry service from PEI to Caribou, and then the big cat from Yarmouth back to Portland. The ferry company says they have "some" tie down equipment, but prefer we bring our own. We'll be a group of 7 bikes, so I can't chance them having enough for all of us. Any suggestions on what to use? I don't ever trailer, so I don't have experience using tie down straps. Need a product to order and any recommendations on how and where to tie down. I ride a Road Glide Ultra, BTW.
I ride a ferry to work everyday... never had to tie down before
Rode the ferry from Cedar Island, NC to Ocracoke Island then another ferry from Ocracoke to Hatteras Island and didn't use tie downs. Rode the ferry from Lewes, Delaware to Cape May, New Jersey and likewise didn't use tie downs. In both cases, they just gave us wooden wheel blocks.
Why wouldn't you want to take ( necessary ) precautions to ensure a safe passage and not have to worry about your scooter bouncing around like a buoy? A little bit of space ( in your scooter )and a few minutes of your time ( after loading on the ferry ) is all it takes.

I've been on several ferries and never tied down.If you are worried just stay with and maybe sit on your ride.Should be ok.
They always treated me great on the ferries. They let me load 1st and un-load 1st on the double ended ones.
