Ive got a FXFD with the QR HD screen and get the buffeting. In playing around I have found that if I simply set my hand on the top of the screen the buffeting disappears completely. I think it wouldnt be too difficult to make an extender, about 4 fingers taller. I looked it up and its just polycarb. Think Ill order a piece of 1/4 thick and give it a try.
Two points. I think a recurve windshield would have better results. But if not, methylene chloride is "plastic weld" and would permanently "glue" your extension on. You use a needle syringe and let it wick between the two layers. It will melt the two before it dries. They become one piece. It is nasty stuff so it may be hard to find. Plastic fabricators should have it.
Think I'm going to try something like this. I can get a piece of 1/8" polycarb delivered for under $9. I'm sure I can clamp it temporarily and get it the way I want it before I attach it.

As a test i shifted my windshield up about 3 inches so that the top clamps were actually above the fork caps... problem solved. I just need a taller screen.
Test set up with support brackets...
