Default Lightning

Hello I'm new here I love to read threads on here and now I have a problem. My 05 heritage softail was plugged into my battery tender and our house got hit with lightning and blew several things but mostly it blew up my charger now my bike starts headlights work but my turnsignals and brake lights don't work I quickly looked it over and my 15 amp accessories fuse was blown so I changed it and right when I turned ignition on it blew that fuse my battery is charged and has 12 volts it has alarm and led signals with custom dynamics regulator to stop fast flash any idea what is blown or bad to cause fuses to blow instantly? Thanks

more than likley you have adirect short to ground can find with volt meter or buy a bunch of fuses take out all the lights and replace one by one with ignition on and when it pops find the short.

I've often wondered about something like this happening. Would it make a bit of difference if a tender was plugged into a surge protector?

My TVs and dish were plugged into surge protectors and they still got fried so I'm not sure it would help much on the bike

Try unplugging the Custom Dynamics box, then plug in main to taillight harness. Then hit the switch, see if the fuse blows since we know it is on the lighting circuit. If the Module is shorted out, replace with a Badlands Module, the original !

I'm thinking the bike thing is just a coincidence. Lightning may have fried the tender, but I don't believe it would affect the bike. 'Course I don't know much about electricity, but it seems that the charger would be its own surge protector for the bike...IOW, it will fry first & not be able to conduct any current to the bike.

'Course I been wrong before.

I had tender plugged directly into the wall so it was not on a surge protector but I had battery tender in my other garage hooked to my mower and that tender blew too it don't make much sense it was scattered in different areas where things blew and it kicked 2 of my main breakers out but they were for rooms in the house
