Wash the new bike to make sure there is no grit on it, dry, then use wax on the paint and chrome. It's fine on the plastic such as windshield and signal lenses but don't get any wax on the fins, or the rough black parts around the engine case.
wax on the chrome heat shields or motor won't last, gets to hot. Leave a jar of wax in the sun and watch what happens.
Finish-Kare High temp wax would be the one that would hold up the best and it still wouldn't last at all.
meguires 2.0 tech wax ( which is really a sealant) or mequires ultimate wax ( which is really a sealant). many good products out there, but these two you can use everyday without hurting the paint. use it offen and your bike will look new for years. mequires sratch X for any marks you may get on it.
If you want to use meguires polishes that you can buy at the auto parts store, use the ultimate line, compound and polish. Next up the meguires line is 105/205 combo, available at some auto parts store. Ive used them and they work, just not a fan. 3D HD (not harley stuff) is great. right now the 3D polish is my favorite. The Menzerna line is king of the hill. Their FG400 is one of the best compounds ever made, if you need a compound. Always match your pad to your product, and ALWAYS ALWAYS use the least aggressive method possible to get the desired results wanted.
For most people, wash and wax with a good quality wax will be enough. I just started using adams polishes, really good stuff and simple to use. Some of the other companies I was looking into like chemical guys just had way too many different products to achieve the same thing.
Clay bar first, then a good sun wax. Good brand, not cheap crap.
If you use a clay bar, or clay substitute, you should always polish afterwards. Even the finest grade of clay with clay lubricant will mar paint, seen under the proper light.
Ive had a detailing side gig for 10 plus years and have never heard of "Sun Wax", what is that??
I do agree that a lot of the stuff you can purchase at the auto parts store is crap. Unfortunately the only place to get quality stuff is online for me. Menzerna, 3D, CarPro, Wolfgang, Ultima, are only sold online and not in Pensacola

Lol....spell check..SYN, Synthetic...lol,,, I clay bar, wash, polish wax, then I leave it alone, wash it wax, bike is 10 years old and still the paint looks ok but, it's not a priority anymore.
