Defiantly no hate from me at all...this is a very normal process. I guess the haters think that the 103 should be the last motor variant, and we should keep the mediocre suspension, and crappy chrome, poor handling, etc,. Harley has been evolving since inception, do a little Harley history lesson. If Harley didn't evolve they would have been gone long ago.

I posted this in another thread to prove a point...

Well, I was one of those folks who saw the changes as a positive and I upgraded from my '03 Ultra Classic to an '08 Ultra Classic. The improvements included not only a larger 6 gallon tank, but also a six speed transmission, Twin Cam 96 engine, throttle by wire, ABS brakes and a new Harmon Kardon audio system and a few other smaller details like frame upgrades, etc. Overall, it was a huge year for the Touring line and look at how they've continued to evolve 10 years later. It's really quite remarkable.
Yes I can recall, I was one of those people that every time someone posted about there bike going into a limp mode in traffic I was the one that was proud of my throttle cables. Back in 2001 I ask God to lead me to the perfect motorcycle, and he did, but he waited till 07 to do it. Thanks for the happy memories.

I remember 1n 1982 when the FXR was released. The old timers were upset with the non traditional styling back then, too. I took one out for a test ride & knew I was going to own one someday. Even with a Shovelhead motor, the new chassis, five speed transmission, & rubber mounts, the bike was so fun to ride. I'm not real fond of the styling of these 2018 bikes but I'll wager they will be a blast to ride. Only time will tell......

I am not jealous, I didn't like the looks of the softail in 2001 when I bought my Wide Glide, and I still didn't like the look of the softail in 2007 when I bought my Road King Classic, and I don't like the Looks of them now, but jealous, hell no.

I agree I do not understand why they put a 3.5 gallon tank on a cruiser, especially given our increasing traffic and changes in zoning for fuel stations. This removes any of those models for me as a commuter. I just sold my sportster for that reason. I was planning on looking at the new Dyna's. I will not buy a commuter that does not have at least a 5 gallon tank and 40 mpg (200 mile range). The difference for me is having to make three gas stops a week instead of 2. My commute is 32 miles each way, 25 of it at 70+. When I use my touring bike, I ride all week on the one tank. My sporty got nearly 60 mpg, but I still needed three fillups with my 2.5 tank each week. That meant a detour of several miles. For a commuter, I want a minimum of 200 mile range, especially if I get caught in a back up.

Would be cool (sorta) now but, the rear looked like a boat and the brake light is butt azz fugly. Anyway it shows that Harley like everything else will always evolve as technology and style evolves. Like I said if you think about it for a minute if Harley stayed the same they would be no more Harley....period.
