Thank you all for the valuable insight. Sounds encouraging! New tires, fresh fluids and motor mount replacements are on the list... Plus the crown!
Upgrades that I noticed were tall handlebars which were a bit wider (about shoulder high which surprised me how comfortable they were), chrome braided cables, chrome fork wind deflectors, highway bars with flip-down pegs, rhinehart exhaust. I didn't notice any stage 1 or stage 2 package. Better yet, here's the url: http://www.highcountryfrederick.com/...OwnedInventory
That's what I meant about options, the exhaust and breather. If it doesn't have a tuner it will get excessively hot like my old Road Glide did. Can be unbearable and discolor the heat shields. Apes already on the bike are a bonus. Smile with every twist of the throttle!!!
I bought my 2000 WG garage queen you see below early this year with 5K on the clock. Replaced the fuel petcock valve (seeping), did complete fluid change, brake fluid flush, new tires, ran a few tanks of fuel treatment through it and my 17 year-old bike runs like new and I ride the heck out of her.
Very nice bike. In 2015 I purchased a 2008 Road king with 7000 miles for $11000 from a private owner. It is a standard (hard bags) ,has Rinehart slip ons and an Arlen Ness Big Sucker air cleaner and I would buy it again in a heartbeat. It was absolutely flawless and it is my first Harley. Other than a battery replacement its been trouble free. See if you can negotiate the price down.
I bought a 2012 Road King in August of 2016, it had 300 miles on it. I have 12,000 miles on it now. When I first got it home I had an oil leak that turned out be an o-ring where the clutch cable goes in to the transmission. (I think I'm describing it right, my dealer fixed it.) It was a cheap fix. Since then my voltage regulator went, changed that myself and put a chrome one on. Other than that it's been all good, and like others have posted garage queens are the way to go over buying new IMO.
