everybody knows thousands of widgets with +/-.010 tolerance are much cheaper/faster to produce than ones with +/-.003.

As mentioned earlier, these positions are for temporary workers which make up to 30% of the workforce under the current contract. They get paid $16 per hour with no benefits and it is not first shift. The union employees make $26 and have no love for these workers. It used to be a great place to work but most of my friends that are still there only have a few years until retirement and cant wait to get out of there. The company and union are both at fault.

Guess I better not let go of my 03 FXD then. I thought my dial indicator was bad when I did my cam upgrade. I actually went and borrowed another one to be sure.

Less than .001 runout on a 14 year old bike with 17K miles.

Wouldn't it be great if HD hired a bunch of us old folk in their design department? We have seen what works, what doesn't, and surely we are opinionated. We would make such a kick-a$$ bike whose design would live on for ages.

Maybe something based on a frame that could take different rear ends and front ends. Want a big and fat tire?, no problem. Want elongated front forks? here you go. And something that could be custom ordered online. How cool would that be?
