Default Modifying floor jack

Has anyone modified their floor jack by replacing the fixed wheels with swivel casters? It seems that I could move my bike easier in the garage if all 4 wheels had swivel casters instead of just 2. I have a welder.

It doesn't really matter if anyone else has done it. Actually sounds like a good idea. Mine, both current as well as last 2, and I am assuming you are talking about a motorcycle jack (?) only swivels on one end. Go for it and let us know how it works out. I am sure you know to probably only use good heavy duty steel wheel casters.

Yes, I'm talking about a motorcycle jack. It's a Craftsman jack that came with my bike. I would buy heavy duty steel casters similar to the fixed ones.

Skip dicking with the jack and buy yourself a dolly to put the bike on once in the air, safer, much more stable and better access under the bike. Second best investment besides the jack.

the j&s dolly comes with the option of two swivel casters and two fixed, or 4 swivel casters.

My Redline dolly does that but trying to work with OP. Easy C note but money well spent.

If you are talking about this jack:

Think it is not as simple as just bolting on swivel casters. They are much higher than the fixed ones and would make your jack higher at that end. Your bike would be leaning on the jack making the whole thing unstable.

You will have to weld supports for the swivels to make it work.

The jack might no longer fit under your bike

I was thinking, over all, swivel wheel mounts would not support as much weight as non-swivel.

Yet for a motorcycle, thought may be irrelevant, for a automobile I'll term a relevant thought.

I think you might have a real problem getting the front of the lift under your bike with with swivel casters. I suppose you could try ball casters but rolling around on concrete they'd get so abraded that they wouldn't roll anymore. Buy a J&S jack. They roll around real easy. I'm just sayin'.
