As someone who bought a 2017 Dyna... honestly I don't care. Anything new they label a Dyna won't have parts that fit 'my generation', anymore than a 2010 Camaro shares parts with a 2002.
If they've taken Dyna model names and moved them over to the new Softtail line, the Dynas as we know it are done. Anything new that shares the name Dyna will be as different as a 2017 Fatbob and a 2018 Fatbob.
I have no regrets about buying the last year of the Dyna. There are many ways to measure how good something is, and all I know is this thing makes me smile every single time I ride it. Beyond that, who cares.
Oh look, someone defining what a real Harley is based on what they ride. Never ever read that before.
Oh look, a guy who knows squat about me shooting his mouth off. Got my first Harley 54 years ago, my first Vee Twin four years earlier-- a '48 Indian Chief for $250 from the neighbor. I've had all of the flavors except for a knuckle. Never was into them so no biggie... most recent bikes. That Fat Boy was far and away the fastest Softail I ever rode. Engine blew up at 11,000 miles -- that's when I got the Street Blob. Both the Fat Boy and the ape hanger Softail Standard behind it were mine. I loaned the Standard to a friend from out of town so we could go for a putt. Yeah, a Hayabusa with a novelty helmet...
Snooze-a-Davidson
Pretty great scooter... for a B Motor.
Yeah that...<br/>
Been doing this a long time. I think 59 years last I counted...
The whole notion of real Harley vs not is asinine. Every time somebody makes that comment it inevitably comes down to "any bike not like mine is not a real Harley"
But if you are saying that is not the case and the criteria you are using for your definition of real Harley is something that had not changed, then you could classify all v-twins as not real Harley's since the original bikes were single cylinder. Perhaps instead you can have the criteria Be bikes not designed by the founders of the company, which would mean the last real Harley's Knuckleheads.
I see this type of silly argument in the Jeep world.
In reality it is new vs old, not real vs unreal. Everybody has their own preference, much like everybody has their favorite color.
There's a lot of things I don't like about most of the new bikes, but it has nothing to do with the notion of real or not. There's also some things I do like about the new bikes.
What’s your source or is this a prediction???? The dyna is great riding bike. There is nothing like the feel of a rubber mounted beast. It keeps coming up how it was inferior to the fxr, the frame was upgraded in 06. With some after mods they handle great. Does my wide glide handle as good as my fxr, hell no! But it is still the best handling chopper wannabe imo. Funny how the old softail’s are Not getting any static. They were also one upped. It’s a good thing that the new bikes are superior, we would not want to step back. Right know nothing in the new line up speak’s to me, but I bet something will sooner or later!
Friend of mine knows a guy who’s sister is a beautician and she does the hair of the cousin of the guy who is in charge of research and development at HD. I took a couple of new bikes for rides and decided I will never let go of my ‘97 FXDL. The twin cams didn’t do it for me and neither will these, I think Harley peaked with the Evo and Dyna.
What is your point here? Writing about what may happen is superfluous stuff. Deal and write what is at hand today. And besides your article was about 10X too long.

It was way more nimble than my Softail which I stripped down far as possible.
I picked the wide glide because it handled closest to the way I was used to from my Panhead, which I loved to ride, but going long distance (1500+ miles) and back within a tight timeline wasn't possible on a stock '53 engine anymore.
