Default Help needed

My financial life changed in 2012 and I've been without a ride since 2013.

To be clear, I'm not looking for sympathy or handouts.

I can't afford to buy a good bike outright but I could build one over time if I had a Titled Frame to start with. And with Tax time coming up, I'm looking.

What I'm asking is if you have knowledge of an available frame with title near NorthEast Florida, Please let me know.

I'm not picky, any EVO frame will do. Sportster, FX, or FL, I don't care.
That would be about 1986-1999.

Thanks

Good luck.

I'd rather ride a Honda than a boat load of dreams.

Don't have any knowledge that would help you with your endeavor but can appreciate your aspirations. Best of luck and hope things come together for you.

I am guessing since you are looking for a frame and want to build on it that you have mechanical knowledge/ability. Have you thought about getting something low cost that is all there that may just need some work?
Starting with a frame and building from there in most cases is going to have you putting more money in the project than you would spend on a hot deal off Craigs List etc... If you just want the experience of building the bike from the ground up yourself I understand but if you are look to ride this spring there are tons of options out there.

Looking just at Craigs List today in Jacksonville shows 10 Sportsters ranging from $2200 to $3K. One is an 02 with 10K miles for $2200. If you just want to ride there are a number of Metrics starting at $1K and up. That is just in your city if you expand the search you have many choices

I am not sure what your price range or situation is but with the way the used bike market is today for $1K-$2500 you could have countless options to ride tomorrow. Starting with a frame and sourcing the rest of the parts is not going to get you on a bike and cheaper

Thanks for these thoughts. You are right that this is not the cheapest way to do it.

This is how I got my first ('78 XL Basket case) and also my second ('79 XL Basket case) Harley back in my 20's. I'm feeling nostalgic for the build and how it felt to ride a bike that I built.

Costwise, this process spreads out the cost over time as parts are accumulated.

Anyway, just looking for a lead on the Titled Frame to have a starting point.

Just start looking there a ton of used motorcycles in your area. Find a good fixer upper should be much of a problem in N Fl.n see them all the time 2500 of less.

I know you said FRAME. Here's something to try, all they can say is NO.
Go to a local dealer or 2 and tell them your interested in an old bike, and if one comes in that they can't give anything for trade in, to have them or the owner give you a call.

1996 FLHR $2K - Rebuilt clutch and it was ridable.

1989 FLHTCU $1K - $30 worth of small parts and it was ridable.

Awesome deals but I'm not sure my local dealer would do that.

You can buy a good used bike a lot cheaper than building one and it will be something you can ride. Most builds never get finished.
But if your goal is to build something go for it and good luck. Before you buy anything make sure you know what it takes to get it titled in your state. And don't base that on what some one said know 100% what must be done. And cost involved.
You can buy good EVO's with out breaking the bank and cheaper than parts for a build.

Unless you have a lot of parts laying around (and I mean a lot), it will cost you a lot more to build a frame up bike. A better option would be to find a bike (in the years you mentioned) that was complete and had good drive train. They can be had for very cheap depending on condition. Then, tear her down to the frame and redo everything that you so desire and/or that needs attention.
