If I'm super slabbing, riding several hundred miles in a day, I HAVE to have music. Hell, I'll fall asleep on my bike otherwise...
I buy the cheaper Skull Candy, whatever they call them at Wal Mart for my iPod, and they work great. Pair usually lasts me a couple of years, and at less than $20 a pop, that ain't bad...
I use a Bluetooth receiver like the one below. I had a hard time finding a good set of Bluetooth headphones under $100.00 so I bought a Bluetooth receiver onto which I connect my wired headphones. It allows me to put the phone anywhere I want without being tethered to headphones. I had a number of different wired headphones that I like and didn't want to dispose of, so now I get to use them as Bluetooth headphones.
I drive a vehicle without Bluetooth connectivity so I also use it to connect my phone to the car stereo whenever I am in the vehicle. It also works well at home to connect my phone to my surround system stereo.
I have been looking for something like this. My favorite earbuds are wired, so I have to plug them into my phone which is annoying. So you plug your wired earbuds directly into this, and it pairs to your phone?
Don't have the bluetooth kind because I plug directly into the audio port on my ultra limited, but i've been wearing Klipsch earbuds for several years. Almost always wear them; with and without a helmet. They are noise-isolating, not noise cancelling (maybe passive; but not active). I tried many different kinds of earbuds trying to find the style that fit MY ears the best, isolated the most noise, had good sound and were durable. It may take you several iterations to find the best style for YOU.
They aren't perfect. Wind noise still penetrates and they sometimes require frequent adjustments to stay in place. I can pull them when coming into a town and reinstall them when leaving without much effort.
I do wish a manufacturer made a high quality active noise-cancelling set of earbuds that will eliminate motorcycle wind noise. The BOSE quiet-comforts are probably the best, but the reviews I read state that they don't work on motorcycles very good, but are great for airplanes. I haven't tried them myself.

yep,
I also have the TaoTronics Wireless Portable Bluetooth Transmitter which essentially the same thing. I use it for the iPod. I pair the transmitter with the Bose headsets and listen to the iPod via the Bose.
I use the Sena 20S in my Bell RS-1 helmet. A great combination. I can stream bluetooth music and also get turn by turn instructions from my GPS. Fabulous setup.
I have a set of Jaybird X3 wireless earbuds that I use for running and working out. I have used them a few times on the bike with the foam tips (for noise isolation). They worked very well and the foam tips did a great job of blocking the wind noise. The sound quality is also excellent and adjustable with the Jaybird app. These worked great with a half helmet, but I don’t think you could wear them with a full or 3/4. I recently purchased the WHIM module and HD branded Sena 20s EVO headset. Anticipating this to be my new music source this year for when I want it.
I've been using Shure SE315 noise isolating in-ear monitors with a Bluetooth receiver for many years. They block out most of the wind noise, so I don't have to have the volume cranked up. I use the triple flange ear buds. The only real downside is that after quite a few hours, the earbuds start to irritate/hurt my ears, so I just decided to pull the trigger on a set of custom fit Sensaphonics in-ears. I should receive them in a few weeks.
For non-custom fit, I highly recommend the Shures.
Been using the Apple corded headphones that came with my Iphone for 3-4 years now.
Hand control works with gloves to play/pause music and adjust volume. decently comfortable, they stay in my ears 99% of the time. But I'll probably go with some sort of blutooth helmet system soon.
