I figure it takes about a second and half to cross any intersection. In that short amount of time if my reflectors were going to need to be seen to prevent an accident the vehicle would already be to close to make a difference regardless.
This is obviously true and the reason I've always thought the purpose of reflectors is to prevent a scooter from being hit, by a cage, while parked because it is dark and the cage driver has difficulty seeing the scooter.
So take the time today and go for a walk around your parking lot. Look at every single car out there with the side profile. Did you notice something? I sure did and every single car has it. SIDE REFLECTORS. Some of them are integrated with the front or rear lights and some of them are separate from each other. The most common theme is orange up from and red in the rear.
Would you if you had the chance to take those out or change them to black or whatever weird dark color you guys like? Ive seen it and some people go to stupid lengths to change the bulbs or put clear ones to make their ride look clean. Totally unnecessary and idiotic
Im not gonna lie, I do idiotic things too but not this.
Geez ... Did someone **** in your Cheerio's? ... Give it a break ... Go save the world somewhere else.
When I was touring the New England states it was during the time that they held those motorcycle only safety checks.
One reason that I do not remove them is that I have a disgust of being controlled by anyone. Which is what you are asking for with any traffic/equipement rule bending.
Other than that the reflectors don't bother me and I'm lazy so they are safe from me spending time and effort to remove.
The reality of them and hi vis gear they only work if the driver is looking at you. So when the old lady t boned me when she ran the stop sign she was reading a text and all my full hi vis gear and reflectors meant nothing. It was in the winter and I was wearing a safety greet coat with reflective tape like the highway crews wear and hi vis pants also with reflective strips. It was noon in full sunshine.
Oh! And I'll take the one in the middle. I don't like right or left. I'm neutral.
One reason that I do not remove them is that I have a disgust of being controlled by anyone ... well it sounds like they are already "controlling" you :>(
