Default Windsheild problems

I have had my first bike for about 8 mos. now, and love it!!!! However, some veterans have asked why don't I have a windsheild. Ihave never ridden a bike with one, so I did not know the difference. Anyway, my wife & kids got me one for Father's Day, and I installed it and went for a ride. It was horrible!!!!! the wind was going over me like I heard it would, but even more wind was coming UP from under thw windsheild that it kept blowing my goggles off. It is mounted correctly, but half way to where I was going, I took the window off and put it in my wife's van. Let me know if there is something I am missing.

Some more details would help people give you good specific info. What kind of bike it is? What kind of windshield? Is the windshield adjustable, i.e. can you move it up and down, forward and backwards?

05 Dyna Low rider. The window is detacheable with additional docking hardware. Don't know the model number. The 39mm forks on the front where the fork brace is, does not allow the windshield to move up or down. Is this a rake issue?

That's a windshield for ya. I commute on a road king classic and with the windshield on my beard gets blown up and out - irritating. You wouldn't think so but apparently that's the windshield forcing some air down and then it comes back up behind the windshield. Wind shield off though and the wind is just straight on with no problems. I imagine having fairing lowers would fix this. Or maybe those chrome fork mounted wind deflectors?
