Default Storage protocol?

I'm having surgery in a week and will be at least a month, perhaps two, before getting back on my '17 RG. Seeking suggestions as to what to do about the gas, which is premium with ethanol. I can't ride it out, since I can't ride now. Siphon it out and replace with pure gasoline? Stabil?

Probably been a month or six weeks since I have ridden.

Thanks, JD

i fill my tank and add Stabil each fall when I put it up for the winter. I would just make sure tank is full, and add stabil. Also run for a minute or two to make sure you got some into the fuel injectors. Otherwise put her up and wait impatiently to get back on!
Good luck with your procedure.

I've let a full tank of fuel sit closed up for 8-10 weeks without stabilizer and without issues. The main thing is to eliminate most of the air space in the tank. Obviously stabilizer is the way to go. Other than that, when you're ready to go, check tires, oil, fire it up and ride out. I'd also recommend a battery tender for obvious reasons. Good luck with your procedure and here's to a speedy recovery!

For a month or two I wouldn't do anything. Gas doesn't go bad that fast. Put in some fuel stabilizer for your peace of mind.

I don't understand this "storage" thing that you're talking about.

Use Stabil or Startron Ethanol treatment/stabilizer. I've used the Startron product the most and like it better. Both work.

We do seasonal storage up here in northern tier states annually.
Leave the gas in the tank, add an ounce or two of a fuel stabilizer and top off the tank.
(got a gas can for the lawn mower don't ya?)
Stabil and Seafoam are both popular around here. I don't think either is "better" than the other,, they're designed to compete with each other on the market.
I'm a Seafoam fan and use it even during riding season every so often as it helps clean the fuel system and injectors.
Just follow the directions on the jug.

Add fuel stabilizer and top off tank. I have used Seafoam and Stabil brands for the lawn equipment gas, both do the job as far as I can tell.

Connect battery tender. Get one if you don’t already have one. The battery might be fine without it but why chance it.

If your garage is dusty maybe cover the bike with a breathable cover like a bed sheet. Or if you will be able to get out to the garage post-op then just wipe it down - might be good therapy if you can’t ride.

Focus on getting better after surgery so you can ride.
