Yep. Played hell on my 02 RKC. They would through the check engine light and even put it into limp mode once.
Ive read up on this and since my bike is largely stock, it sounds like its not usually an issue. any stage 1 and above mods tend to say OEM plugs. Will keep an eye on it and have other plugs in my bag w/ a wrench to swap out if needed.
I would look at WHY the plugs needed replacement at 9+K. Service interval, if I'm not mistaken, is 30K.
I wouldnt expect any noticeable improvement just by using NGK, especially if the old plugs didnt look bad.
I bet a plug wire was loose on one of the plugs, and when you changed them, you put the wires on properly. Easy enough to bash the dealership in the absence of critical thinking.
Im tellin ya....there are a few hair triggers in every forum....sheesh.
No bashing whatsoever. OEM plugs are typically to be checked every 10000, and that's all I was implying. Like i said they looked ok w/ some carbon buildup but normalish, and from that perspective, I'da not changed them, but if they test rode it for 5 minutes, they would have noticed the issues I've stated. That's why i looked elsewhere first. It has nothing to do with my "absence of critical thinking" but everything to do with something beyond routine maintenance that I assumed might have been done based on symptoms.
