Why doesn't the brake handle go back all the way? Fix that and the light will, hopefully, fix itself.

Unless I am missing something....

Sounds like the master cylinder needs to be rebuilt.

Doesn't he also need to worry about the damage this constant partial breaking is doing to the brakes and the bike?

Maybe I am missing something, but this seems like it will cause a lot of issues.

Isn't there a piece of spring steel or something in the brake lever that goes bad?

Youre thinking of the v-spring that holds the switch in place in the control housing. That shouldn’t have anything to do with the OP’s issue.

Had this happen off and on over the years on my Wide Glide. Sometimes it just gets a little road gunk in the lever that you can blow out with compressed air. The last time it was a bad switch.

Second in having a WG do this. I cleaned it up and applied some lube to the joint. Now I do it everytime I wash the bike. It has a needle applicator so I do cables every 4 months too.

I took it apart and sprayed some silicone on the boot that’s around the piston. It seems to be working fine now.
