I gave one heavy girl a ride once. She was the sister of a friend of mine and both easily tipped the scales at 400#. She had never ridden a motorcycle, not even as a passenger, and wanted to experience it. I had a day to prepare so I upped the shocks and tire pressure a bit, and since the passenger seat was no more than some light padding over the fender since I also added a pillow that I had no intention of ever using. I gave the girl the basic instructions and off we went on a jaunt around town. One thing I learned was never agree to give a ride to someone who weighs in excess of 250#. 400# was way over the edge, and though my bike at the time handled it it was a beast to maintain balance at the stoplights.
Having a low center of gravity on a bike is one thing, but when your cargo weights better than half of your bike, things get real sketchy.
I could have been the envy of every sports bike rider though. I bet I could have done a wheelie all the way through town and into the next county with very little effort, that is providing I didn't loose my passenger.
Finally broke down and gave a friends visiting family member a ride. She was good size. Knew my shocks were tired but weighing 150 myself never thought about it much. Coming into town off freeway hit a little hump and heard the tire squeal on fender. No response to throttle. Looked down and rear sprocket was just spinning away. Sheared every darn rivet holding it to drum. She bitched constantly while walking a mile (while I pushed bike) to another friend's place. As she climbed into a car for a ride back, I told her that I was sorry about the walk but the exercise probably did her good. Never did replace those shocks. Never gave any more rides either.
What about fat riders. I see more fat *** men on the bikes than I do women. fact is I see a lot of out shape men bad mouth a women looks. They need to look long and hard not 1st prize either.
