Damn Deer ran right into the side of me ! we here in the state of Missouri need to shoot more of these roadrats during the deer season. our conservation dept does not do a good job of managing the herd. shoot them and feed the poor or homeless. way to many deer in this state.
i've been a hunter my entire life and i can tell you back in the day you really had to hunt them. now days you have to shoo them away from you after shooting one and chase them out of your yard. we are over run with deer and they are becoming inbred and sickly.
Same here in VA. When I was a kid hunting was challenging ..you had to work to get a deer...Now I could shoot 10 deer before supper time. And they are weaker looking and sickly looking.
I kinda hate to say this, because I sure don't want to hit a deer. We have a lot here, about 75 per square mile. But I have found or should I say what I have seen is, if I am playing my music loud, like very loud, I don't see many and when I do they're running the other way.

i remember reading about a group of hunters who donated a ton of deer meat to feed the homeless here in upstate ny... the state said it isnt from a corporation or company who sells meat products so instead of give it back to the hunters they destroyed it. This country makes me so sick. Let people starve because corporations dont make money off of it. It was a huge amount of meat too from a few hundred hunters.
WRONG! Im wrong it was Louisiana, not ny.

Ive noticed im seeing less of the little ******** since ive started aiming the ranch hand on the work truck at them. Wacked 3 in about a week and havent hardly seen one since. Maybe they sense it. Too bad ranch hand doesnt make a bumper for bikes.
I hit a deer on I-40 in western Oklahoma a couple of weeks ago in a brand new Chevy company pick up. The insurance company totaled it. I never even had a chance to hit the brakes.

In truth, they don't do it because "corporations don't make money off of it"; they do it because the meat hasn't been inspected or handled per FDA regs. I'm not supporting the practice of throwing away perfectly good meat, but that's not why they're doing it.
In Missouri, if you want to "share the harvest", you tell them that when you drop off your deer for processing at an FDA approved butcher, and pay for the processing ahead of time. Then the meat gets to those in need.
I installed a "deer avoidance system" on my Road King. It emits a high-pitched whistling sound when switched on. Don't know if it works for sure but when I see a deer crossing sign, I switch it on, I haven't hit anything, so far.
