Default Lets see your chips

Moving across the country and unpacking had me curious. I have been collecting them for a few years now. Nothing mail ordered, must be in the store to have the chip:

I'm originally from Wisconsin. I've kinda arranged them sort of geographically.

How's your collection coming along?

Me and my riding partner just completed WI two weeks ago (with the exception of the airport). May have to order that one as we couldn't legally go on airport property (hardware issue ya know).
With the exception on one or perhaps two chips (need to confirm) we have completed our home state of MI and additionally we have completed OH, KY, IL, IN, KY, WV, VA, NC, SC and GA. One or both of us have picked up these chips personally but some friends and family members have collected some as well as from many other states and countries.

Our goal when we first began was simply to do MI but now (at least for me) I'd like to complete the "Great Lake States" which means PA will be the next target for next and perhaps NY the following.

We usually "split" the state, each taking about half of the dealerships and meet at a predesignated location (to reduce lodging costs) whenever possible.

After doing this solo a few times, it's important that you don't fall into the trap of allowing this to become work instead of play (which seems to be my problem!).
I try to plan my day(s) by being at my first stop when the dealer opens (I rely on my phone app for this info) and IF your next stop takes you very far off of the shortest route to the following dealership on your list, I call just to make sure that they're still in business and riding there to discover an empty building is very frustrating. I don't know if anyone has a list of dealerships that have closed since the 2018 HOG Touring Handbook was printed but some of those dealerships (and some that I call kiosks) are no longer in business.

Good luck with your progress!

My collection amounts to a massive 2 chips from 2 dealers in OH.

Seems US dealers are the only ones that do chips. I've never seen them in any European HD dealer. Cheapest souvenir you can get here is a T Shirt for 50+ bucks.....

Still need a couple more to fill it up (which I'll get next week in a big ride). Have 2 more boards to work on as well!

My collection has been taken over by my 7year old daughter. She took a liking to the chips so now i collect them on each ride for her. So far she has 77. It's hanging on the wall in her room, I brought her some really cool stuff back over the last couple of years but the chips are what she gets most excited about.

My wife and I finally bought a display case a couple years back and while my son was deployed to Africa he had one of the locals make us a plaque that we hung over the display case. This photo was right after I hung it. It's close to half full now and no duplicate coins.

wish I could post photos.... I would show the few I have. my riding buddy has gotten me some from Hong Kong, Ireland, Greece, plus I have a number I picked up on our travels. I usually pick up at least two because they have different designs on each side. As my collection grows, I guess i'll start to weed out the doubles and chose the "best" side to show. I probably have about 40 from different dealers, but with some of the doubles, I have three displays full. And yes, some of the foreign dealers do have chips!!
