Well, if he is in Northern California, heading to Palm Springs, he'll likely use I-5 to just past Santa Clarita then onto the I-210 to avoid San Fernano Valley and Los Angles area. Gorman, in the Tehachapi Pass is at about 4600', should be okay. Over to I-15 then south to I-10 east to Palm Springs. After that, I-10 to Phoenix area. Coldest part of the trip would be over the Tehachapi Pass, only about 15 miles of that. I would guess (having lived in So Cal most of my life) he can expect to have a comfortable ride, wearing a regular jacket and pants. Temps will be from the low 50's to the high 80's in the warmest places.
