More pics..... But if I had to gundeck an answer from nothing more than tappets. 80s sportster. 10 digit star vin may put it earlier though. Not 100% on when they went with the longer vin.

70s sporty. 13 digit vins started around 1980. I'm not so skilled at decoding vins. Trying here, but I'm no historian.

well its not an Ironhead, I do like the chain drive though. Didn't belt drive come out early 90's?

I am thinking the 87 year is a good guess, possible 883 with 1200 top end?
