Not sure if it applies since I wear a half helmet but I use rain x windshield washer fluid on my windshield and it works really good. I tried carnuba wax on it once and even though I rubbed it down good afterwards I saw a hazy type cloudiness when riding into the sun. With rain x it's crystal clear and the water beads off of it nicely
My first post in this thread was intended to get y'all to get the point. The stuff was created just for this purpose. Trust me, it works, not expensive and a bottle lasts a very long time, with regular use. Now don't be stupid and go with something that will compromise the integrity of your shield. I have been using the stuff for years and would never suggest something that did not do a good job.
You've probably got something laying around now that will work. You obviously want to stay away from anything with an abrasive in it but you could get great results out of Plexus, Bug Slide, any spray wax, etc.
I've used car wax on faceshields and windshields since the 1960s, creamy kind, not paste, never had a problem with it, besides better rain view, it reduces the glare you get with the inevitable tiny scratches over time. Wouldn't surprise me if there are better products, but I'm satisfied with the car wax I always have anyway.
