Riding yesterday into the setting sun and the pull down sun shield on my half helmet did almost no good. Is there a way to make the shield darker so I can at least see where I am going?
Thanks for the hints. I wear perscription glasses so the sunglass option won't work for me unless I order them to match my current glasses. The helmet I use is a HD model and the sun shield is not removeable that I can see. I will look into that more but am otherwise stumped.
Well maybe the answer sought is window tint.
Else darker replaceable shield.
FWIW has always been an issue on day long rides, yellow for AM fog, dark for midday sun, clear for night.
Clear with sunglasses works for me yet not in the OP case.
I don't use the sun shield feature of my half helmet. Instead I wear prescription OAKLEY VALVE glasses with the new generation of transition lenses along with several other coatings and treatments. Very effective in the daytime and I wear them at night as well.
Riding cross country goin east, every morning the sun is an issue. A piece of 1/2" masking tape across the top of the shield is all thats needed to eliminate that issue.
Darkened shields can only help so much with the sun, especially when you are facing it head on. I just tuck my head a bit so the top of the helmet above my eyes blocks it.
