Depends on the owner too. Did they ride in the rain like it did most all the time here in the Northeast this year or just let it sit on rainy days? Alot of things can depend on mileage per year. I have gotten as much as 8000 per year and as low as 2500 this year.
Mileage really doesn't hurt them unless it shows obvious abuse or really high mileage.

I don't think 3000 miles is really a dent on the bike. I bought my SGS in mid June last year and its sitting at around 18,000 miles now, plus I still ride my Wide Glide quite a bit. I leave this Wednesday for a 11 day trip in which I expect to put on another 4,200 to 4,500.
I am averaging any where fro 8 - 10k per year. Depends on if I tour during the summer. Probably increase now that I am uping my Sunday rides to around 700 miles a day
