Although I do have 3 Battery Tender brand chargers, Id never buy another. I foolishly bought a Battery Tender brand lithium battery for my SGS a year ago. Although I put in on a charger specically for lithium battery and made by Battery Tender if i was away over a week, and they said it will go a year without needing charging, It failed, would no longer keep a charge more than 2 days. To get warranty service, you must contact Deltron (parent company) in Florida for a return auth. number. I called and left several messages, as no one answers the phone and after a month, gave up. Never a call back. Cant get warranty done if you don't have a return number and you can't get one if they won't answer the phone. Good product, terrible company if you have a problem.

Yeah, you'll definitely pay more for brand name.
Better to buy in-house brand from noted retail automotive companies, ie, their trademark is on the product and they will stand behind. A good example would be the Canadian Tire
retail chain up here. (Motomaster)
Mine are both Deltran branded. I have a 10+ year old regular one, and a 5 year old Jr. Both still function. Not sure if the output really matters, the main tender puts out 1.25 amps (max) and the JR. .75. Since all they really do is maintain the batteries charge, and the amps are tapered down as the battery charges, all the max output does is bring up a somewhat discharged battery a bit faster. If a battery goes too low, the tenders might not even work, so I also have a standard higher output (Not smart or supersmart) charger for the rare times a have a dead battery..
one thing to be aware of on the deltran branded models. if you have an old one and it is working great, that's good. but the newer ones are not the same. they stopped making them in us and are now making them overseas. so like everything else, if your old one takes a crap and you replace it, don't expect to get the same life out of the new one.

Been using a Battery Tender Jr for at least 15 years. Just bought the bigger unit that charges and stores 2 batters for the car, and camper battery. so far love the products.

I gotta go along with this statement. They no longer have a transformer in the JR.s. What this means i don't really know, but the new ones sure seem to be buildt much cheaper.

How can they not if they're going from 110 volts to 12? It has to be converted some how.

Deltran has been around since 1965. At what point was production moved overseas? My 20 year old Battery Tender Junior was made in China. Where are the new ones made?
