Default 8000 k service

Wondering if Harley took me for a ride one my 2016 Street Glide Special , Had my 8000 k ( Canada ) done in June , turns out My Front and back Masters where leaking and needed to be replaced , as well , a complete line flush for the fluids , as I was under warranty there was no problem , so the appointment was made and the work was done , I got a invoice for $350.00 for the flush and refill ( HELLO ) , I say , that would need to be done replacing the masters , they say that flushing and recharge needs to be done every 2 yrs regardless of the K / Miles , paid the bill and left shaking my head , I am a newbie , 3 yrs in , asking a couple long term riding buddies about this there reply was never heard about it and cannot recall ever having it done , I guess learning can cost $.

Should've been all covered under warranty, if they had to open it... You didn't ask for the flush, they should've told you this up front... Buyer beware.

The manual strongly suggests to do it. Especially if.you have ABS. It's their kick back for failing ABS modules.

Long term riders may not have heard of it, but is Harley's recommendation with the Rushmores with ABS to flush both systems every two years. There are threads on here explaining why.

This exactly. You CANNOT change a master without bleeding the system afterwards. This should have been part of the repair work and not a separate charge. Personally, they are double dipping (get it paid warranty and by you). I would call and speak with a manager, and if you get a BS story, then run it by corporate via complaints system.

It sounds wrong. When you say both master cylinders were leaking are you sure it was the master cylinders themselves (not very common) or just a leak from the master cylinder cover & gasket (very common … especially if the cover was overtightened). Both covers with gaskets are about $50 USC,

If the master cylinder assemblies were leaking, were they replaced or rebuilt. Big difference in the cost of parts, not sure about the labor costs.

If the masters were rebuilt or replaced, both the front & rear brake systems would need to be bled and since you have a SGS, that should have ABS, it would require
bleeding the brakes using the Digital Tech (their HD Computer) to activate the ABS module during bleeding.

Since 2005 (if I remember right) HD switched to DOT 4 brake fluid, and they recommend a brake fluid flush every 2 years regardless of mileage. It's in the maintenance schedule in the owners manual. HD has had problems with the ABS modules on 2008-2011 failing, They say it is due to a lack of maintenance and there is a recall issued for those bikes.

Look closely at you repair order and see what exactly was done.
