A six pack and 3 hours does it for me. It's your money so do what you want and pay what you think it's worth to you.
A while back while I was living in an apartment for a bit and didn't really have a place to clean or work on my bike. That's when I started crashing my friends places. The price for detailing went up by a second six pack and all was good
same here...have it done twice a year....guy that does it is always booked and rarely takes on new clients...has has a helper so it takes him half a day per bike

$125 - should take 1 man 8 - 12 hours to do properly.
This is what my neighbor charges - he details bikes for a living. He will spend 8 - 12 hours on a bike and it comes out almost factory new.
1. Ride and enjoy it.
2. When really needed, hose it down, blow dry, hit it quick with Pledge.
3. During the worst of the winter snow, stay in the garage up on the lift and enjoy my quality time with it bit by bit.
I have always thought the only bikes without some bugs on them belonged inside a dealership waiting to be sold.
I was detailing mine a couple of days ago. I have some caked on brake dust/soil on my rims and tried getting it off with scour pad(plastic). It's still caked on and doesn't seem to want to come off. I read another thread that says WD-40 is good for cleaning. Any recommendations?
Same reason we wrench on our own bikes. The job they do isn't what we expect. Seems like you are kinda picky about your bike as is most everyone in here. Good luck finding someone that will do it the way you like. I second the six pack and do it yourself method. Works everytime
I wouldn't think that anyone who could afford a "summer house" would fret over the extra $50 that the dealer would charge. The local dealer here charges around $300 if I remember correctly.
When I detail my bike it takes me about 2- 2 1/2 hours but I keep it pretty clean and the wash only takes about 10 min. If'n you keep it waxed up pretty good(every other wash for me) it comes clean pretty easy and the detailing is easier(every 2-3 waxes is a good time)
