I tell anyone that asks, I’ve like all my HD’s but loved my GSX-R. Track days at Willow were the best riding experiences I’ve ever had on a bike. If anyone has the opportunity to make a track day or road racing school, jump on I it. Even if sport bikes aren’t your cup of tea, just from a mechanical standpoint, it’s mind blowing. It’s also mind blowing how fast you can smoke through a set of D207’s.
Im lucky to live where I live for riding. Some of the best riding in the country right out my back door. Perfect for my Street Bob and I really enjoy it, but I’d be lying if I didn’t wish I was back on my GSX-R every now and then.
COTA has track days now. Who knows, maybe I can build a sweet little track bike, squeeze into the old leathers and relive the glory days.
Nevermind, I just remembered how much tires cost. I’m good with my SB.
Over the past 4 weeks Ive sold my Triumph Speed Triple and BMW R1200GS and replaced them with an 05 Road King. First time on a Harley in about 10 years. Im 35 years old, married, 3 kids, own a business. The sport bikes are too tempting for me to go way too fast, especially because I used to ride at the track so Im very comfortable going fast and dragging knees. The adventure bike was fine, but rarely off-road so whats the point. I think Ill really enjoy this RK.
I had a 1998 GSXR 600, then a k5 GSXR 750. I had a family and stopped riding for a few years due to cash flow issues, got the bug back and bought a 2017 Roadster last year. Great bike and my first Harley but I really do miss the speed and sound of an inline 4 screaming through the gears, just don't trust myself on a sportsbike, it's too addictive going fast!!
I actually get excited when fellow Harley riders give me the biker wave. I never got it before when riding my Suzuki. Glad to be a part of the club now.
Love these bikes. Rode an Austrian buddy's with a set of slip ons, a/c & tune. What a fun bike & I absolutely love that engine.
I was born & raised a Harley guy, but my first street bike at 16 y/o was a '77 KZ-650 & I've had a soft spot for Kawis ever since. This beast however, broke me of my need for speed-
Bought it in Germany in '05 after throwing out my ex-wife. Crazy fun, brutally fast & scared the begeebus outta me on the regular. It was a lot of fun in Germany, but once I got back to the States, it was either gonna kill me or get me thrown in jail. Pulled outta my neighborhood one evening onto a busy-ish, 6-lane 45mph road, ripped it & grabbed 3rd gear at 110mph. Decided I was over scarin' myself on purpose, pulled a u-turn & listed it for sale that night.
