Sorry for those with losses.

I am still a relatively new reentry rider, so only solo so far (and I enjoy the solo therapy). I'm veering off topic but oh well ... Lost one of my longest and closest buddies early in 2018. He had moved out of state, but we still spoke multiple times a week, just shooting the breeze. He was very supportive when I went reentry 4 years ago (Harley content). Saw him 3-4 years ago when I drove 4 hours round trip (in my cager) to his duck hunting club in Kali just to spend an hour and half having a couple beers before heading home. Saw him 18 months ago when I was in Phoenix and did a 5 hour roundtrip to visit him for several hours. Had plane and hotel reservations for his 50th wedding anniversary party this past Memorial Day. Found out last Feb or March he was out of town with his buddies at a Sporting Clay shoot, didn't wake up Sunday morning, died of a heart attack in his sleep (at 73). I literally think about him every day - there is always something where the thought comes that I need to call Jim about this, then reality hits me.

Moral is - cherish your buddies while you have them. The really good ones are few and far between and can't really be replaced. Damn I wish he was still around and rode, definitely would start riding with him.

June 6th will be 3 years since I lost my best friend and riding buddy Mike. He and I met in 1967 on the line for kindergarten registration. Mike taught me to use a clutch on his XR75. The 1st HD I ever rode was his dads 60s Sportster. I ride by myself now and I kinda like it. June 6th, I put my passenger pegs down so Mike has a place to hop on.

Thank you so much for the kind words! I still can't even believe it's real.

I hate to hear that man. I have one friend I ride with on day trips and 1 nighters but his wife wont let him do long rides so I go alone.. A few years ago I rode coast to coast solo. I was 26 years old at the time. It was by far one of the best trips/vacations I've ever been on. I had a pure blast. Sure, it would have been nice to have been with someone else to join me but that didn't stop be from enjoying it one bit.

Sorry to hear about your brother. I know its not the same but I grew up fishing with my grandpa. He passed and now I have his boat. 7 years later and Every time I go fishing on it it's like he's there with me. I actually prefer going alone for the reasons you listed
