There's no need for checkpoints or "random" stops. Any cop that knows motor vehicle law can find PC for a stop within a quarter mile.

That is a good assumption. For many years they have targeted the sport bike guys because they haul *** down 84 and 9. Hgwy 35 sure, you can get rolling pretty good on a few of the straight aways, but 9 and 84 are always a target.

I owned a cabin in Boulder Creek for a few years and it was my primary residence. And frankly, they would clean up a sport bike crash at least once a day on highway 9 on the weekends. Especially, in the early spring when the run-off would still happen at certain spots in the road. The most notorious curve was the one that hooked left to Boulder Creek at the back entrance to Big Basin. Many a bike went down there. Now it has a stop sign and a complete left turn with very little curve after you turn. All that and they managed to save those two giant 200 year old redwoods in that grove when you make the turn. Annoying to stop there, but it is much safer.

That whole Santa Cruz Mountain range of roads and Highway 1 between SF and Santa Cruz are some of the most beautiful roads in the world to ride. IMHO.

Pacifica has a reputation for being unfriendly to bikes with loud exhaust. But hey, with a name like Pacifica, they kinda warn you up front. My town, Hollister, has a dense motorcycle population. Many are extremely loud. I personally don’t care for the ear-splitting types, but whatever. The cops don’t bother because of our history with Johnny, The Wild One. (Brando) And then there are the dirt bikes up in Hollister Hills. This is the opposite of Pacifica. When you ride through, stop at Corbin and get yourself a made-to-order, super comfortable custom seat.

But Pacifica sure loves the revenue from the "Dream Machines' show every year! That's the irony...

I was cited in 1982 or so. Vance & Hines 4 into 1 on my GS750EZ in Oceanside. Was running slow because I was unbaffled. Yes, it was LOUD.
Cited by an OPD motorcop.

Back then it was a "fix-it" ticket. Had an OPD buddy sign it off for me. The buddy, was a "motor training officer..."

Wish I woulda been in that office when that went down...

Turns out they called this officer "Mad dog."

He earned it by TOWING THE COMMANDING GENERAL'S car at a social function at the police chief's house on Fire Mountain...

It goes without saying, but don't go near Mulholland/The Snake. As Yogi put it so well: "Nobody goes there anymore. It’s too crowded."

Meanwhile, I got SR 33 all to myself.

For the OP; Seal Beach, Laguna Beach and then to a lessor extent Huntington Beach on PCH near Main St. have a reputation for paying particular attention to loud exhausts. Especially during the weekends. Last summer Seal beach even had those lighted signs on trailers placed in various locations. I recall seeing one periodically on Seal Beach Blvd between Westminster Blvd and PCH on a number of occasions. FWIW it does get a bit out of hand from time to time.

CHP leaves me alone on the freeway.

Most of Brentwood police have bikes... I haven’t heard of anyone in my area getting one yet.

I’m sure if you get on it in a residential you might get lit up. You look for attention and you just might get some!
