Tiger 800 xcx... 435lbs, 95hp, ktm wp suspension, abs, traction, adjustable seat height, 10k rpm limit, torque out the ***. And it cost 2 or 3k less than a base softail. Abs and traction can be turned off too for off road. My leftover 2016 was 5k less than a base street bob softail and has features most Harleys cant even dream of. Around 8 inches travel front and rear with rebound and compression adjustments on the fly. Has 2 power outlets and a 450watt alternator for all the gear youd ever need. I love my dyna but it cant compare...

They are great tourers. I rode 4 hours up to ithica on all back roads... i got there and could still walk, and i have spinal cord damage from an accident. Its so comfy and the suspension is just out of this world. The torque curve is flat, from 3k to 10k it will just go. Its the 675 street triple motor stroked to 800cc with cams for a better midrange. The new ones are even better with a lower first gear. They even run on regular which is recomended and for 10$ i get around 200 miles.

Google told me the tiger 800 xcx has a curb weight of 221kg, that's 487 in freedom units and that's more than I can muscle around off road. You have one, can you confirm it's 430 or is it heavier? How is it off road? I have a bad back too and I like the way the tiger looks and feels but the weight put me off of it. I live in the city and its at least 1 hr on the highway in any direction till I can get to a good trail, so good highway handling is a plus.

Ideally, 300-350 is what I would want off road, like a drz400/dr650, but I'd tolerate another 50lbs to do it on a harley with v-twin rumble and sound and highway manners. By the time you hit 430lbs thats a klr and I'll just buy one of those for $3-5k. 460lbs is heavy af, for that weight I'd be on a bike that I can spend 6+ hours on the freeway on.
I used to live in the Australian Outback. I had a Honda XR250. Great bike, but I thought it was a little low on power. I took a KLR650 for a test ride, loved it until I got in some rough off road stuff. Went back to my 250 and was very happy.

i put a carbon fiber pipe on it. The stock on a 2016 is no joke 20lbs. Honestly it doesnt feel that heavy. If going offroad local i only put 3 gallons in but thats fireroads, the wr is for tight stuff. With the 21 on the front its very stable and i just set the cruise at 80 and it just goes. The suspension is adjustable by hand up front and you have preload and rebound out back(i think rebound, maybe compression dampening). Also the windshield is big enough to keep wind off your chest which helps with back pain. But its not too big. Honestly the handling makes me feel like i did when i was a kid on my sportbike, it will handle the twistys with no problem.

if your used to a bagger or other big bike it will feel way lighter sitting on one, you might be able to rent one too. I ran into a guy who was going to rent one in colorado with some buddies so i showed him how the electronics work and how to lower the seat.

Do you stare at your frame while riding? Function over form, man. Course if you're only into Harleys you may not understand that concept.

I've had more bikes than you've had years on this planet. If it's ugly I'm not going to own it or ride it. I understand, do you?

You could just find a nice low milage Buell Ulysses for pretty cheap and build your own for a lot less.
