Just took my 97’ Electra Glide out for the first time this year. Whenever I cranked the throttle in gear it sputtered and bogged down. But cranks right up when the clutch is pulled in. Also can’t get the transmission in neutral. Any ideas where to start? Any help is appreciated.
Sounds like you have some sticky clutch plates , which can happen if the bike has sat for awhile . If you can get it into neutral , run the bike for a bit while working the clutch , then hold the break and try to put it in gear . The bike may lunge forward on you . Try getting the bike into neutral by rolling it back and forth and trying again . I would also check the oil and replace it if you haven't done it in awhile . Also if you do run the bike to get that oil warmed up , use a large fan to keep the temp of the bike down , you don't want it to overheat and cause more problems . . I'm no pro , but I hope this helps
