CarPlay is cool!
Today I got my bike flashed for CarPlay without the whim. It’s pretty friggin cool.
I can control anything on my iPhone with it. While I cannot, and don’t want to, I can’t answer phone calls. But, if I get a text that I am actually interested in, it will read it to me.
I thought that was neat.
I can control all of my music with it now instead of having to deal with my phone, which is what I was after mostly. And it works very well.
Before if my pandora would drop for some reason I’d have to dig out the phone, which would locked of course and it was a general pia, or even if I just wanted to switch channels, ugh.
i don’t know what else it will do yet but it seems to do whatever I want so far.
I also ordered CD windshield trim lights in black as they only had chrome in stock and a smoked tri bar while I was there.
Not to mention the beautiful weather today..

And everyone here says millennials can't text and ride!
I saw something on youtube the other day where these young techie's developed an external screen (small square) that mounted to the chin bar of a full face helmet that was like a heads up display / reflector that connected you to your phone screen basically. Young kids want to ride and Ive gone way off topic......

Well, I’m 50. But ok.
On my way home I got a text from my daughter, when I touched the screen It told me “Sydney says I love you” over the speakers.
I thought that was pretty great.
Rant on about millennials though.

I didn't think you were a millennial, it was just a general statement. Im 50 as well and have carplay in my truck, its pretty cool for sure.

Not sure how CarPlay works because I'm an android kinda guy (although Im typing this on a MacBool Pro and casting the second screen to my iPad). But I know Android Auto was a game changer for me too. I use a Sena 30K mounted on my full face and I can just say "OK Google" to activate the search features. Having text messages read to me is awesome. Googling directions to the closest pizza place is awesome! Only thing I've found it won't do that I'd like it to do is transcript an email. But when I try, the response is "I''m not able to do that yet" so I have hope for an upgrade in the future. If I could send and receive emails while riding it would allow me to get more riding time since all I do at work is think and respond...I could do that on the road. They do not need my body in the office. Proof right now I'm screwing off on HD Forums and they all think I'm working.

Here's an indication of how good Waze is - we have recently been car shopping for my wife. More than one dealer pointed out that the vehicles we were looking at had Apple Car Play which, among other features, allowed one to run Waze thru the car's infotainment system. That lead to "doesn't this have navigation?" The answer: "sure, but Waze is way better!"

My truck has Android Auto, I get a kick out of them sending me Specials to update the Nav software for only $99......yeah right, for something that is already 1 year out of date. I really wish Harley would get Android Auto functionality built into the GPS in a future update, would hate to have to switch to an IPhone
