I always wanted a Harley and in 1980 got me a brand spankin' new Fat Bob. I've been a Harley guy ever since. I've always had other bikes as well for different mission profiles. More and more - I get pleasure riding the other bikes even though harleys have gotten much better over the years - I just am not as passionate about the brand anymore. I like hydraulic lifters and pushrods; I prefer that to the performance advantages of the higher maintenance alternatives even though the torque of the Bandit 1250 is almost sexual.
I've got two bikes I will selling from the fleet - a 2008 Fat Bob and a '16 Suzuki Bandit; I like both bikes but have too many darned bikes!
That will leave me with a 2010 Road King down in Daytona, a mileage making - road trip truckin' 2018 Road Glide, a 2019 Low Rider as well as two Suzukis, a DR650 (farm tractor on two wheels) and my new love, a new 2018 V-Strom 1000XT - what a great bike ... which I will be taking (not riding like I did the Road Glide) to Sturgis next August. Those mountain roads in the Black Hills, paved and otherwise, were made for a bike like the V-Strom. Note: I go the week before the event for the riding - daytona and other east coast events scratch my itch for cruising/party events.
I still like H-D motorcycles ... obviously as I'm on this forum, but I've fallen out of love with the MoCo, their Stealerships and have less confidence in their machines (rightly or wrongly) than I used to. But ... I still have four of them. Anyone want a low miles '08 Fat Bob?
The rawness of it. The vibration and idle of my '02 carbed Dyna Glide. The sound. The old school engineering and handling. I'm getting old...going fast is just not as important as it once was...but the rest I mentioned still stirs my blood.
why a harley ? after riding motorbikes for 38 years i got done speeding in 2017 and lost my licence for six months so i decided i wanted something slow and comfy..... i ended up with a 82 FLH with 3950 genuine miles on it .... i love my shovel...its the newest and the most comfy bike i own which includes ....1962 cb 72, 1970 cb 175, 1964 G15 Matchless,
