How much does a dealership make on a new bike?
building and keep the building heated , Pay for the hot dogs and bear on Saturday.

Every car dealer that wasn't family claims they are "LOSING MONEY" on this deal.
I just say yeah, and I believe in the Tooth Fairy.
Being from the car capitol of the world. We get "employee pricing" on GM and Chrysler products.
Set price, dealer gets the "hold back" and other incentives.
Some dealers will try to add, advertising, doc, etc. etc. Call them on it or go to another dealer. They will never walk from "EP".
In Colorado, half the dealers don't even know how to process employee pricing???
Had one sales manager call a month after getting a 2015 Wrangler and asked again for the #, certificate, and where he files it ???!!!
He probably DID lose money!

I've made comments about the ridiculous of of new pickups in this country. I recently saw an ad from a dealer trying to unload his 2019 inventory, offering $17,500 off MSRP. $17,500! Now tell me, does anyone think they still weren't making a profit? LOL!
No wonder the American manufacturers are abandoning cars. They're raping the consumers of pickup trucks, who just say Thank sir! May I have another?

Why are there so many added on fees?
Is it any wonder that many smart phone addicted millennials don't want to hassled by a salesman. Is this the reason so many new businesses are popping up that give you one click apps for the best deal.
I looked at three dealers before I found one willing to make a deal that felt good to me, but I won't do it again.
I just went to buy a new UTV for hunting, asked the price, talked about roof, windshield, etc. agreed to a price, including labor, then he said, plus $1200 shipping and setup. I walked. Keep your UTV.
I want the price you will sell it, not a bunch of games. I know the all do it now, even my bank tried to start feeing me to death. I told them, you have five minutes to remove every fee or I'll go to a different bank who wants my business. They did it in two and no more fees, ever according to the manager.
I do understand why the millennials don't want to play this game. Is it driving new riders away from Harley, or motorcycling in general. I think yes.
Oh, I bought a one year old UTV, with all the extras and more, with less than 30 hours, for 1/3 the cost of new with zero accessories.
We looked at buying a new Harley several years ago, same games. I walked. If someone develops a Buy a new Harley app that just tells you the best OTD cost, even plus license and state , I'd use the app and head for that dealer. Why has it become such a game? Why has the game gotten worse instead of better?
By the way, I support a reasonable profit. I buy locally because I want my local guys to stay in business, but I'm too old to play these shitty sales games. Also, I need to run this by the sales manager, that is a crock of manure. I was a salesman for 40 years, I knew my deals on every item, and when I had to say no. They are so wrapped up in sales tactics to try and bleed every last cent out of their customer, they have lost the big picture.
Will one of you develop a Harley sales app, that lets me look at the model, color and extras I want from several area dealers, where I can just hit Okay, deal made, I'll examine bike, test ride and confirm tomorrow.
