No need worry about the V-Twin or ICE engines aren't going anywhere. America is exporting more crude oil than any other country, we are no longer dependent in foreign oil.. If anyone thinks that Standard Oil, ExxonMobil, BP, etc are going anywhere, think again. Electric is nice, but it is being subsided by the Government just to appease the save the planet folks.. We will all be long gone before ICE engines go away.
Heres what I dont understand - why are folks so obsessed with HD financials? To me this is a who cares for all these threads in general. I bet you have a smart phone, drink coca cola, drive a Ford/GM/Dodge Ram, etc and your not concerned with those dollars.. Not bitchin on anyones interests but I dont get it..
Owning a $20k+ bike is a little different than having a Coca Cola in the fridge (and many folks have owned multiple Harleys). Therefore knowing the financial viability of a company that sells you a major piece of machinery is kinda important IMHO. History is filled with consumers getting burned from buying products only to see the manufacturers go belly up (leaving the consumer in the lurch).
Also, I pretty much ascribe to the Warren Buffett method of investing - invest in products/services you use and enjoy. I don't own any HD stock (AMZN is my biggest holding), but I'm considering it. I typically will check out the financials on companies I invest in on a regular basis.
And finally, I own a business so I actually enjoy looking at financials and stuff. Kinda helps me think about issues for my business.
Amen.. Business owners take the risk, take the mortgage ,make the investments in infrastructure, supplies, buildings and employ people and pay them. They lay awake at night when things go bad and they have borrowed money to get their business off the ground. They are the risk takers who drive.the economy and creat the jobs Profits drive the market, and investors expect return on their investments..

It's not that people are obsessed, concerned maybe a better word. Some folks are concerned because they not only own Harleys but are invested in Harley stock in their portfolios.. That's what happens when a company offers stock, investors look for returns in their investments, ROI.. Harley stock has been down, revenue is down ,investee's get concerned, especially when the economy is at an all time high, and the stock market has post 110 record closes.
ok call it concerned... There are a ton of these threads. This thread maybe because you own stock - Im not so sure thats where everyone else is coming from.. My .02, the minute I have a concern on a stock, it gets sold. To me HD is my enjoyment, not my investment.. YMMV...
There is definitely some limited good news here, maybe Harley can find a happy number somewhere around 200-215K bikes a year and stay there. Doesn't need to grow, just maintaining in light of the aging core base would be a big win. They are still making money, and have been smart about cash.
Personally I hope I get to live through at least one more new V-Twin engine before electric takes over and ICE engines are history.
Harley definitely still sells a lot of bikes. As a comparison, BMW sold 175162 bikes in 2019 but they are experiencing growth. 5.8% in 2019. https://ultimatemotorcycling.com/202...-sales-record/
Growth is important for a publicly traded company, so the MoCo needs to continue to find a way to do it just to keep investors happy.

Because most Harley (Corvette owners too) riders love to bitch, cry, and talk ****. Probably the worst demographic is approx aged 60-75. They for the most part have the most money any cry about everything. They are the entitlement/wanting something for free poster children.
Example: they buy a 30-45K Harley are will cry on 10 pages of posts about a $300 first service. LESS than 1% of the cost of the machine.
In the end they are miserable and bored and want something to bitch about/paint gloom and doom to make them feel better. No one cried for years about other companies loosing billions every year but Harley who made millions is in the ******* lol?
Fun fact hardly NONE own HOG stock!
Don't want to argue but Entitlement ? Really ?Well in my case, I worked for it since I was fourteen, and stayed working for over forty years never unemployed , ever.. First statement from Social Security was 1974. I scrimped and saved and bought my first Harley Ultra at twenty nine. Owned my first home at twenty one. Owned Harley stock since it was offered, along with many other investments. Took the risks of family business employing folks and going into debt. So, to say we are concerned about our investment and our money is correct.. We worked for it not never got a hand out or expected anything for free.
Concerned, yes. and have a right to be.. Our Dad rode a Harley, my brothers own Harleys. So ,Harley's have been in the family for quite some time. We are friends with local dealership, and have been doing business with them for over sixty years. No one is bitching, or crying or complaining . Last bill on my Harley was $1.200, paid it, thanked the guys in the shop and left the mechanic a nice tip .. No one is entitled to anything in my opinion..
