The old style laced wheels have a shoulder where the bead of the tire sits. The 'Profile Laced Aluminum Wheels' do not.....they are smooth. IMHO they are easier to clean and I prefer the looks of them.

Thanks again for all of the great answers and pictures. I knew I could count on yall. I think this is the way I am going to go on my 08 Road King Classic. Another plus to me that my dealer told me today is that with the smooth laced wheels you have the option of running 'tubeless tires'.

THE ONLY OPTION GOT ON MY 07 GLIDE WAS THE LACED WHEELS. IVE NEVER HAD A PROB WITH SPOKED WHEELS AND COULD GO EITHER WAY BUT IT WAS BUY THIS BIKE OR WAIT[:@]AS MENTIONED ABOVE MAY BE EASIER TO CLEAN BUT USE A SPRAY WAX ON THEM TO HELP.

I have them on my 1200C and they look great, but more importantly to me (Hawaii Weather) they are easier to clean and dry with no place for water to sit and pool and rust my rims.
