Good luck with what you're doing.

My advice would be to ask the forum specific questions about what you're curious about. Nobody can give you generic advice about things in general really, so ask specific questions and state your goals.

a brief perusal of UK license restrictions appears that there are multiple tiers with power and weight restrictions
have to obtain A to get B and so on
assuming this is correct?
lets ask member gbrown from UK

Hi Holly,
how big was the Yamaha? If you’re a beginner, and have your heart set on a Harley I would recommend starting with a Sportster. The bike is a jack of all trades. I have one as my second bike and it is probably the funnest bike I have ever ridden. It is easy to handle and will get up and go if you need it to. I would look at the 1200 rather than the 883 (although that is what I have). Not sure about your insurance over there but the 883 is much cheaper to insure over here.
If you are not set on a Harley I would look at the BMW 650 models. I rode BMW’s for twenty years and they are fabulous machines. Great touring bikes. Although difficult for the inseam challenged. The only reason I switched Marques was the dealer network is not that great over here. Good luck in whatever you choose and keep us posted.

Holly, welcome, we have a ladies section in the forums called Queens of the Road. Do not worry about the weight. If you're tall enough/long enough legs and can reach the ground you can manage any bike. When you've passed the test for the larger cc bikes look at all the Softails. I'm an older woman 63 next week and ride a Heritage. It's a great bike for touring, town riding or whatever.
