Forward controls vs Mid controls/further forward mid controls
Anyone have any recommendations in regards to foot controls? I got my bike with forward controls and they are a stretccccchhhhhhhh. I was thinking of doing a mid control swap but Im also seeing now the further forward mid controls. Just wondering if anyone has experience with either, its gonna be a bit pricy so I just would like to see what info I can get before making the decision.
**Also I would be willing to trade my forward controls for either mid or further forward mid controls**
Been there, still doing that!
My 14' Super Glide came with forwards and I can't reach them... Period.
I looked at the reduced reach forward mount brackets but they only bring the pegs back about an 1" and that's not going to help.
Switched to the mids, they're okay but after 100 miles I'm too bunched up and they start killing my hips.
Switched to the further forward mids and it was a waste of money, I can't tell the difference. But if I could only have one, I'd pick the further forward ones.
I sat on a reduced reach seat at the dealer and it's a 'no-go' for me. But I did switch to a used (good deal) solo Bobber seat and that helped with the ground reach.
Now I'm looking at floorboard options for my 4th set of controls, not counting my highway pegs that I can't use because the mid peg brake and shifter are in the way.

I prefer mid mount controls with highway pegs. I feel more in control ripping through the corners with my feet under me and the highway pegs allow me to stretch out and relax when cruising.

I'm not sure what fits what anymore (not up on newer bikes), but, I'd look into footboards as a possibility. They would still be forward of mids, but much further back than what ya got now. I would look at finding someone with a newer Heritage or FatBoy that took off their footboards and replaced with forwards. The brackets, M/C, shifter, etc. will most likely bolt right up. You may have to do some mods, but I'd at least look into it.
Depends on what hurts on you. I like mid. Highway pegs can make my hip hurt. Mine fell off, Kuraykn. Probably won't replace. I like having the bars for them, to protect lowers, and put my toes on.
