There's two kinds of repo scenarios.
1) The guy who hit a rough patch, maybe he lost his job or a sudden unexpected medical expense caused him to get behind on his bills. He's otherwise a responsible person and takes care of his stuff.
2) The guy who just doesn't pay his bills. He doesn't care about his stuff and might have abused it. He probably didn't maintain his stuff properly either.

More than likely if the bike was owned by the guy in scenario #2 up there, you would be able to tell the bike had been neglected or abused. You're probably just fine.

my advice is that you do exactly what you would be doing had you not known it was repo'd

ride the bike, keep an eye on it, check the oil regularly, and take good care of it

As for the ESP, ask when its coverage starts. From the bikes original sale, that means it's double warrantied with HD's overlapping factory warranty, or from the time of YOUR purchase, going forward. Don't assume anything.

I have one and used it once for the water pump on my '16 Rushmore. It billed out at the local HD dealer at over $800! $50 to me.

It's a crap shoot if you ever get your money's worth outta them.

And they can be a PIA for the repair facility if they have not previously interacted with the 3rd party insurer.

Oh yeah, don't over think the repossession.

My only problem with a repossessed item is if they can’t afford to keep it they can’t afford to maintain it. It might not hurt to pull an oil sample as you change the oil to have it checked for excessive wear metals.

Very good point I hadn’t thought of! Thanks

Thanks everyone, I think you all are correct and I should carry on as if I didn’t know it had been repoed!

A good bike is a good bike.. BUT different states have different laws requiring notification of repos. Is the title an 'A' title (actual, non-issue). Hows the bikefax? The ESP price seems rather fair btw...

I wouldn't buy the warranty, it could be money wasted.
Put that money into an account, and use if if you NEED it for repairs.
my 2 cents
