Hey Guys, Looking for some info on what the 49 pan head saddle bag looks like
I am going to be making a leather set for a guy, And he wants period correct.
This is what I have dug up on the net
Question is. which style is the 49? Or could it be both just an up grade from the factory.
Any help in this would be Great.
The second picture is correct for a 49. 1949 was the only year that used the western style buckles and red piping. 1950-54 used the same bags but with plain buckles and orange piping.
The first picture is a saddlebag from an early 90s Heritage Softail (it has only two straps-thats the giveaway).
About 22 years ago I bought a set of reproduction Panhead saddlebags for my Evo Heritage Softail from a Company in MA called "Osprey Limited." Unfortunately, they no longer show them on their website, but a call to them might be helpful.
