Can I get a recommendation on what would be a good HD jacket for summer riding, probably light weight because it gets hot here in Kansas in the summer,I would like a jacket for added protection in a fall,I would like wearing shorts and t shirt but skin scraping across concrete would not feel good. 🙄
I've had a H-D "air" jacket for years. It has pockets for armor and flows a lot of air. I find it way more comfortable than no jacket because you don't get the sun load on your arms. We take multiple day trips the jacket protects you from sun burn and that baked feeling at the end of the day. The accident protection is a plus.
It's not HD though - it's a lot better. Couple it with a Klim Zephyr wind (and partially water) proof shirt for cold mornings. That packs down to the size of a tennis ball for when you aren't wearing it.
Look for a H-D jacket that has Switchback technology. It has zip off body panels that go from a great jacket on a cool morning to a mesh jacket as the day warms up. I’ve had several of these style jackets over the years and have always really liked all of the functions.
I have one from Cycle Gear that I bought a few years ago. Very nice, comfortable, cool on hot days and has CE armor on the elbows, shoulders and back. I caught it on sale for right around $100.
Check out Cycle Gears website or better yet go to their store if there's one near you. They have a lot of options and their prices are fair.
I also have a built jacket from cycle gear that I bought years ago. The sizing on it is much better than tourmaster and some of the other euro sized jackets.
