Thats what you get with the "Just in time delivery system" ..Companies don't stock chit anylonger cause they get taxed on stuff on the shelf. The accounting system in the good ole USA sucks and its spreading world wide.

Not sure of your location but In central Illinois (and I'm sure other similar areas) I hear the same complaint every spring. . First nice days everyone wants to get out and ride. They roll the bike out of the garage and discover it won't start or runs rough. Dealers and indies have a backlog of bikes. A lot of guys start thinking about maintenance or upgrades they've been putting off all winter.

If they have had the part the whole time, I dont care how much “backlog” they have, over a month for a fuel pump is ridiculous.

A good mechanic can do this at a leisurely rate in less than two hours........

There must be a bunch of people at that dealership that bought that $4,000 VIP package that gets them to the front of the line. 😁

I’d just ask for the part and do it myself. I also don’t get caught up in the whole spring time to ride thing in central Illinois because I ride a bit in the winter or I’m working on my upgrades.

This is a basic customer service issue. If a shop provides an expectation as to when work will be done, they need to own it. And they need to manage expectations if things change.

Good shops are sometimes hard to find and busy because of it. So you’ve gotta decide whether you’ll use that shop again for their value or find somebody else who might provide better customer service at the possible sacrifice of inferior quality of work and value. Waiting a month for a fuel pump they have in stock is not good

These shops specially in colder weather states get super busy in early spring. Sounds like your shop has more work than they can handle. I’ve stopped dealing with particular shops over the years because of service related issues. The shops I do deal with are reliable and stick to their commitments. In return, I’m loyal to them and have gotten to know most of the employees on a first name basis as a customer.

Maybe they damaged your bike and are putting you off while waiting for parts to fix it ?

If all these newer more technologically advanced bikes are so much better then why are there so many clogging up the service bays causing wait times of a month or more. Maybe Harley should get rid of all the whiz-bang garbage and just concentrate on producing a bike that works.
