i got rid of my dresser. i always wanted a full dresser so i got 1 in 013 ultra classic and after 8 years i wanted a bike that i could fill the wind and listen to the motor. iam not touring anymore, and it seems a little overboard for running around town and short runs. so i dont have it anymore and its like iam alive again cheers
yes, heard some weirdness when I was nearing 10k miles.....and I'd lean in to listen....i was not going nuts, they replaced the engine at 10k
20k, i started hearing something....new oil pump
25 or 30k miles.....I know what the bike should sound like and I found myself leaning in and hearing a 'noise"....scoring on the cylinder walls....they put the 3rd engine in it
for the last 20k miles with the new 117, it sounds great, doesn't burn a drop of oil, and has been running like a champ....my exhaust roars, but the sound i hear when i lean down sounds more like a sewing machine
My bike is running sweet, I'm getting ready to do a service on it.
Since coming back from the Black Hills in August, I thought I've been hearing an exhaust leak (D & D FatCat), it just sounds different. My hearing is poor (hearing aids). It's so hard to tell.
The wind can play tricks on ya, so I've been leaning in. Still undecided.
I've checked the head pipe collars & nutz & collector; tight and no signs of leakage.
I think I'm getting old...

I haven't tried leaning forward to listen to the motor, will give it a go next time. I love listening to the roar of the exhaust of course, have S&S cans on my FatBob. I do like the smell of a hot engine when you stop at the lights.
A little different, but kinda the same:
Pulling up to a strip mall full of storefront windows at night with a built '57 Chevy. The stores were closed and the darkness reflected like a mirror. You watch yourself pull a massive burnout in the reflection.
Yeah I did that.
