In reality my mom booted my *** into the cold for the same reason. Best decision she ever made on my part. I grew up real fast that summer. I thanked here forcing the issue with tough love for the remainder of her life. No better teacher in life than reality of having to grow up over night.

I was very fortunate to have a new step dad at 13. Otherwise I would have prolly been a career criminal the way I was headed. Running the streets basically since I was 10 while my mother worked all the time. He bought me my 1st motorcycle then and that turned me completely around. He rode, and was a hot rodder. Great reason to hang around and learn from him. He also bought me my 1st car. Great dads are hard to find.
